The Cross of Valour (official post-nominal letters CV) is the highest ranking of the Canadian Bravery Decorations. Currently, there are 20 recipients of the Cross of Valour. Recipients are recognized by the post-nominal CV. The award was established on May 1, 1972 to replace the Order of Canada's Medal of Courage and first awarded on July 20, 1972.
